At the celebration of the 75th year of Independence at Fort St. George, Chennai while CM Stalin hoisting the national flag. He recalled the freedom fighters and their sacrifice for this nation. The special announcement by the side of State Government for freedom fighters would be raised a monthly pension from Rs.18000 to Rs.20000 and a family pension from Rs.9000 to Rs.10000.

The CM said that he bows to the freedom fighters and their families. He recalled valuable moments of the freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi was fought in non-violence, Thanthai Periyar fighting for social freedom, and Pulithevan’s defiance against the East India Company. CM Stalin gave an honorable decision for freedom fighters’ families to increase the monthly pension by 3 % in Dearness Allowance.
