Punjab Board: PSEB 12th Exam will cancel? Twitter Requests: Punjab’s Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, and the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) announced this week that the Class 12 board exams will be held in the month of June 2021. After the CBSE decided to cancel the Class 12 board exams, the state board is expected to modify its decision.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a high-level conference earlier this week to discuss the state of board exams. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) then declared that the Class 12 board exams will be cancelled. Instead of doing offline examinations, students would be considered based on well-defined objective criteria in a timed and appropriate manner. Since then, students have been asking with several state boards to postpone their Class 12 board exams.
PSEB has decided to conduct the Class 12 state board exams in June 2021, but the board has yet to issue the official examination schedule due to the uncertainty by the pandemic. PSEB also plans to conduct offline exams for three mandatory subjects in each stream. The board further stated that the question papers have already been read and handed to 2,600 locations across the state.
Since this looks to be the strategy for the time being, the CBSE’s decision is likely to have an impact on most state education boards, including PSEB. The state authorities, on the other hand, have yet to make any announcements in this regard. Punjab officials, like those in most other states, are set to meet soon to make a final decision on the board exams. The PSEB has yet to release the examination schedule for the state board exams scheduled for this month. This is just another sign that PSEB may decide to cancel or postpone its board exams.
Around 3.18 lakh students are likely to sit for the Class 12 board exams this year in the state. While PSEB has stated that they will adhere to all social-discrimination regulations, conducting tests in such conditions is still problematic. The country is definitely healing from the second corona virus pandemic. However, it may take another month or more for the body to fully recover and reopen.
