Petition filled against Twitter in Delhi HC – To Follow India’s New Digital Rules – Amit Acharya has filed a Petition in Delhi High Court against Twitter. Central Government gave 3 months to follows countries new digital rules. Other social media websites and tech companies were started to follows these news rules from May 25. But Twitter doesn’t respond any thing about this new digital rules. So, a petition filed against twitter to follow these rules.
Twitter one of the most popular and biggest social media company. In February 15 Indian Government laid certain rules and regulations to tech companies and social medias such as Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Indian government gave 3 months’ time to follow these rules. Google and Facebook Inc announced that they respect the countries new digital rules and started to follow them but Twitter staying as an exception to not follows these new rules.
Indian Government asked tech companies appoint a chief operating officer, a special liaison officer and an undercover detective to deal with their users’ complaints. But twitter doesn’t appoint any of the officers and hasn’t follow any other rules laid by Indian Government. The deadline was ended on May 25th. So, petition filed against Twitter to follow these rules.
As India’s new Digital rules was implemented Google said “We realise that our work in keeping our platforms secure is never done and we will continue to refine our existing approaches, and evolve our policies and be as transparent as possible about how we make decisions,” and Facebook said “aims to comply with the new rules but hinted that it wants to discuss some issues which need more engagement”.
