Ministry of Railways is granted the first recognition under the Scheme for Recognition of Standard Development Organisations!! BIS – Bureau of Indian Standards is the National Standards organization of India belongs to the department of consumer affairs, ministry of consumer affairs, food & public distribution, government of India. It has originated a policy for recognition of Standard Development Organisations – SDO’s as the umbrella organization for supervising India’s standardization works.
BIS has launched a scheme for recognition of SDO’s as the umbrella organization for steering India’s standardization efforts!!
Ashwini Kumar Choubey, the central minister for consumer affairs, food and public distribution, give the information about the number of government institutions have registered to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for recognition from the BIS policy of Standards Development Organizations (SDOs). The central minister Ashwini Kuma Choubey, give this information in the house of lok shabha as a written result to the question raised in the house.
The Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), Ministry of Railways, has been collaboratively give the first recognition belong to the policy for recognition of Standards Development Organizations – SDOs in the country. According to the Act of BIS, 2016 may recognize or award any organization in the country India or outside the country which is under the standardization.
Being the national standards organization, it is the accountability of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), to ensure that there is synergy in the standardization efforts made in the country and that there is no overlap or fake of the effort done by other standards developing organizations.
