MERC Recruitment 2022 Eligibility Criteria:
The Chairperson of the Forum shall be a retired senior judicial officer; or a retired civil servant not below the rank of a Collector; or a retired Principal of a reputed Engineering college; or a retired Professor of the Electrical Engineering Department of a reputed institute; or a retired senior electrical engineer of the Government; or a retired engineer from a Distribution Licensee not below the rank of Superintending Engineer or equivalent officer, and having at least twenty-five (25) years of experience, with adequate knowledge of power sector.The Chairperson shall preferably have working knowledge of the vernacular language of the State of Maharashtra.
Independent Member shall have experience of working for at least ten (10) years on matters concerning consumer Grievances.Candidate shall be well conversant with Marathi language. (Refer the official notification for more details)

As per the terms of Regulation 4.5 of MERC (Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum & Electricity Ombudsman) Regulation 2020, the Chairperson of the Forum shall hold office for a fixed term of three (3) years. The tenure of a Chairperson may be extended by the Commission for a further period not exceeding two (2) years subject to an overall age limit of sixty-five (65) years.
