Tamilisai Soundararajan has been appointed as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry (additional charge):

Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has been given additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Dr. Kiran Bedi has been removed from the post of Puducherry Lieutenant Governor.

  • The President has directed that Dr. Kiran Bedi shall cease to hold the office of the Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry.

3rd edition of ISL Dictionary to be released by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister:

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot will release the 3rd edition of the Indian Sign Language, ISL Dictionary with 10 thousand terms.  Dictionary has been brought out by the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre, ISLRTC.

  • The 1st edition of the ISL Dictionary was launched on 23rd March 2018 with 3 thousand terms.
  • 2nd edition with 6 thousand terms including earlier 3 thousand terms was launched on 27th February 2019.

PM Will launch “Mahabahu-Brahmaputra” in Assam:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Mahabahu-Brahmaputra, lay the foundation stone of Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge and perform Bhoomi Poojan for construction of Majuli Bridge Assam. The launch of Mahabahu-Brahmaputra will be marked by the inauguration of the Ro-Pax vessel operations between Neamati-Majuli Island, North Guwahati-South Guwahati and Dhubri-Hatsingimari, Shilanyas of Inland Water Transport Terminal at Jogighopa and various tourist jetties on River Brahmaputra.

  • Two indigenously procured Ro-Pax vessels, namely, M.V. Rani Gaidinliu and M.V. Sachin Dev Burman, shall become operational.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched “Pilot Pey Jal Survekshan”:

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched a Pilot Pey Jal Survekshan under Jal Jeevan Mission- Urban. It will be conducted in cities to ascertain equitable distribution of water, reuse of wastewater and mapping of water bodies with respect to quantity and quality of water through a challenge process.

  • As a first step, the Ministry has decided to launch the Survekshan in 10 cities- Agra, Badlapur, Bhubaneswar, Churu, Kochi, Madurai, Patiala, Rohtak, Surat and Tumkur.

Defence Minister launches e-Chhawani portal:

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today launched e-Chhawani portal. Residents of Cantonment areas can register their complaints regarding civic issues and resolve them through this. e-Chhawani project aims to provide online municipal services to more than 20 lakh citizens across 62 Cantonment Boards through a multi-tenancy central platform.

  • Through this portal, online application for renewal of leases, online registration of births and deaths and   online application for water and sewerage connection.

Russia has successfully launched “Progress MS-16”:

An unmanned Russian cargo ship launched successfully Monday with a load of supplies for the International Space Station (ISS).

  • This launch is made from the Russia-leased Baikonur launch facility in Kazakhstan.
  • It is carrying water, propellant, and other supplies and is set to dock at the space outpost

Mario Draghi has become the Italian Prime Minister:

Amazon Will Start Manufacturing Line in Chennai:

Amazon India will start manufacturing of electronics products in India. The device manufacturing programme will be able to produce hundreds of thousands of Fire TV Stick devices every year, catering to the demands of customers in India.

  • Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad welcomed Amazon’s decision to set up a manufacturing line in Chennai, as it will enhance domestic production capacities, and create jobs as well.

  • Ghulam Nabi Azad, a senior Congress leader who had been the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly for the past six years, His term was ended. So that the party select Mallikarjuna Kharge as the Leader of the Opposition.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala set to become first female chief of WTO:

Nigerian economist Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala became the first woman and first African to be appointed as the head of the World Trade Organization. The appointment takes effect from March 1. Okonjo-Iweala has been Nigeria’s finance minister and, briefly, foreign minister.

  • She has had a 25-year career at the World Bank as an advocate for economic growth and development in poorer countries.
