Tuition Reduction:
The Department of Education has announced for the 2020-2021 academic year that tuition fees will be reduced in seven different phases due to the current COVID-19 epidemic. There will be no discount for schools charging Rs 6,000 per annum and tuition fees for those charging between Rs 6,001 and Rs 12,001 will be reduced by 7.5 percent.
Twelve percent reduction in tuition fees from Rs. 12,001 to Rs. 24,000 per annum, 15 percent reduction in tuition fees from Rs. 24,001 to Rs. The reduction is up to 26 percent for schools charging more than Rs 1 lakh per annum.
Apart from this, schools cannot charge students for food and transportation. However, the announcement said a 30 percent discount on accommodation charges would be offered.
“We hope that government-aided and non-aided private schools will abide by the court order,” said School and Mass Education Minister S.R. Dash told reporters.
