Around the country, government, public sector, commercial, and private organisations are announcing and awarding bonuses in honour of Diwali. A bonus of 78 days’ pay was announced by Indian Railways. In this scenario, the government employees demanded a bonus payment from the Tamil Nadu government in light of the upcoming Diwali festival.
As a consequence, the Tamil Nadu government has issued an order granting a 10% bonus to C and D category employees who work for PSUs. In this case, the Tamil Nadu government has decreed that on the occasion of Diwali, bonuses should be given to workers in the Co-Operative Societies.
