TN Finance Minister Announced Rs. 1000/- per month for Polytechnic Students. Tamil Nadu Finance Minister announced that Rs. 1000/- per Female student, only if she was studying up to 10th standard in Government schools and joined Polytechnic or ITI. He also said that the mining policy will be formulated in a manner that does not affect the environment. Finance Minister PalanivelThiagarajan said that a Rs. 1000 crore project to upgrade government colleges will be implemented.

The budget also focuses on empowering women, eliminating poverty through inclusive growth, and the social-economic development of the marginalised among other areas.

The Central Government has introduced a scheme to provide a monthly stipend of Rs.1000 to students studying from class 9 to class 12. According to a press release issued by the Directorate of State Examinations, students studying in Class VIII in Government, Government Aided, Corporation, Municipality and Panchayat Union Secondary Schools are eligible to apply for the academic year 2021-22.

With regard to education, which has been directly affected by the pandemic, the minister said, “The flagship remedial education programme of this government ‘IlamThediKalvi’, launched to bridge learning losses among children due to closure of schools because of the pandemic, is being implemented by 1.8 lakh volunteers in 38 districts.”

The government will also establish the Tamil Nadu Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (TNIMHANS) by upgrading the Institute of Mental Health in Chennai. A provision of Rs.40 crore has been made for the first phase of this project, the minister said.
