However, due to the lockdown, all schools were closed since March 2020. In a normal academic year, school teachers would start their five-week summer break from the last week of April. But, amid rising Covid-19 cases there are no more updates for the new academic year and Class 12th Exam.
Teachers from Primary and Middle Schools are busy distributing bride course material and workbooks to students from Classes 1 to 11. According to the recent news “The Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation has printed 3.8 crore new textbooks for school students in Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2021-22. This exercise was done despite the long holidays and shutdown owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the state Assembly elections. The education department has ordered 4.1 crore textbooks, of which 3.8 crores have already been printed and delivered. This means that 91 percent of the textbooks have been printed and delivered to the designated centers.”
Schools are closed for all students except Class XII, who are having their board practical exams. Last year, only direct classes were conducted for 12th-grade students and a Practical exam was held. This year also Class 12th Practical Examination was conducted successfully.
School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Devi has said that the examination will be held for 12th class students.
