TalkTalk, Boohoo and Uber: 19 huge companies creating thousands of North West jobs in 2021 and beyond. Despite a few setbacks, the boost in business confidence has aided enterprises from around the area in announcing the creation of thousands of jobs in 2021 and the coming years. While the pandemic’s uncertainty remains, particularly with the new Omicron form, firms in Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, Lancashire, and Cumbria have pledged to generating new employment.
PwC, the global professional services firm, stated in October that it will create up to 1,000 jobs in Manchester over the next three years at its newly opened technology base. The technology-focused positions will be added to the existing 3,000-person annual recruiting.
At least 100 of the new posts will be filled immediately, according to the business, and will be based at the firm’s Manchester location at 1 Spinningfields, where 1,400 people are already employed. The centre will concentrate on creating technological products and assets for use throughout PwC’s company as well as to assist client work. Uber, the ride-hailing service, said in September that it plans to hire 500 extra drivers in Merseyside to accommodate increased demand following the shutdown.

Castore, a luxury sportswear business based in Liverpool, announced in April that it will transfer its headquarters to One Central Street in Manchester’s city centre, creating 300 jobs over the next two years. Matillion, Greater Manchester’s newest unicorn, added over 180 employees in 2021 as it prepares for worldwide development. The cloud data firm currently employs 390 people, up from 213 at the end of 2020. Over the next three years, musicMagpie, located in Greater Manchester, will increase hundreds of employment.
The firm, which has been praised for investing in the city and “providing brilliant career opportunities”, said applications for the full and part-time roles based in Wythenshawe are now open. It currently employs over 450 customer service staff across the city, with its wider mission to “upgrade the UK and supercharge communities”.
