Supreme Court Notice to Central & State Govts – This is the Reason! The Supreme Court has issued notices to central and state governments to make sanitary napkins mandatory in schools across the country. A social activist had filed a case in the Supreme Court demanding that school-going girls should suspend their studies without sanitary napkins during menstruation.
In that petition, 23 lakh girls in India have dropped out of school without access to sanitary napkins. Due to this, it was said that facilities of sanitary napkins should be provided to the girls studying from classes 6 to 12 in all government schools.

The case was heard today by Justices T.Y. Chandrachud and P.S Narasimha were heard. The judges have issued a notice to the central and state governments regarding the provision of free sanitary napkins in schools across the country. Further, the case has been adjourned to January 2023.
