10% Reservation for EWS in Government Jobs – Supreme Court Judgement!! The Supreme Court has upheld a landmark announcement on 10% reservation for economically backward sections in government jobs. That is, the Supreme Court today announced its judgment on the validity of petitions relating to the 103rd Constitutional Amendment, which provides 10% reservation to the Economically Backward Sections (EWS) belonging to upper castes in education and government jobs.

The judgment was delivered by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India Udai Umesh Lalit, Justices Dinesh Maheshwari, S Ravindra Bhatt, Bela M Trivedi, and JP Pardiwala. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari held that the EWS Reservation Act did not violate the basic framework for taking economic criteria into account or the Equality Code.It is also said that the ceiling is flexible.
