30% Quota for women in Govt Jobs – Uttarakhand High Court Order! The Supreme Court has passed an order allowing 30% of the job quota for women in the state of Uttarakhand. Accordingly, the Supreme Court has now allowed the continuation of the 16-year decision of 30% horizontal reservation for women in public employment in the state. Earlier, in 2006, Uttarakhand had issued a government order to provide a 30% job quota for women.

It was announced that this 30% horizontal reservation would be given to women without considering their caste, religion, place of birth, and social status. This notification has been in operation for the last 16 years. Meanwhile, this year Pavitra Chauhan filed a case in the High Court regarding reservations for women.
The case came up for hearing before a bench comprising Justices S Abdul Naseer and V Ramasubramanian of the Uttarakhand High Court. Following this, the Supreme Court yesterday allowed the continuation of the 16-year-old decision of 30% horizontal reservation for women in public employment in the state of Uttarakhand. Accordingly, women will get a 30 percent concession in government job reservations in the coming days.
