State Govt Implements New Facility For RTI Application – This Would Be Hassling Free: In India, the Right to Information (RTI) is a status of fundamental right for every Indian citizen under Article 19(1) of the Indian national constitution. RTI empowers every citizen for seeking information in the departments of government. The Kerala government has introduced a new web portal for filling RTI applications across all the departments in the state.

With this facility, the Kerala people no longer have to stand in a queue in-person or send requests by post to submit the RTI application. This web portal empowers people to submit their RTI online along with the fees which can be paid online. The Kerala government has developed this portal incorporated with National Informatics Centre (NIC).

This was done after the Supreme Court’s order on May 20, 2023. The SC has instructed all the state governments to set up the online RTI portal within three months. SC made this verdict upon the petition filed by the Pravasi Legal cell represented by advocate Jose Abraham. Kerala state people can also file physical applications, if they needed, said GAD report.

This online RTI portal will be useful for the state people to make hassle-free applications; People can access through https://rtiportal.kerala.gov.in/ this website. The General Administration Department (GAD) has issued a notice that states that the nodal officer will be responsible for collecting the online applications and distributing them to the respective departments.
