SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Date 2020 was announced. The Staff Selection Commission will hold a competitive examination for recruitment to the posts of Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant, Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant and Data Entry Operators for various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India. SSC CHSL Tier I Exam Date 2020 & Instructions:

  • Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examinations (Tier-I), 2019 is going to be conducted by the Commission w.e.f. 17.03.2020 to 28.03.2020 throughout the country. In view of the prevalent situation created due to Covid-19, the Commission has decided the following:-
  • No Bio-metric Registration of the candidates will be conducted. However, thumb impression of the Candidates will be mandatorily taken on the Commission Copies and Attendance Sheets.
  • Candidates will be allowed to bring their own masks to be worn during the examination. However, masks will have to be removed for taking photographs at the Registration Desks. These photographs can be used by the Commission for verification during subsequent Tiers/ stages of the examination.
  • Candidates will be allowed to bring their own hand sanitizers (small size) and water bottles (transparent/ see through).
  • Candidates will be allowed to bring their own ball pens (having transparent outer cover). Any other type of pen, which is translucent, will not be allowed.
  • The Commission has also issued necessary instructions to its Service Provider for cleaning/ sanitizing frequently used objects such as mouse/ keyboards/ tables/ door handles, etc. before start of each shift of examination in the larger interest of the candidates.

SSC CHSL Exam Scheme 2020:

  • The examination will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Tier-I), Descriptive Paper (Tier-II) and Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-III).
  • The Commission reserves the right to introduce additional stage of examination which would be notified at suitable time, if considered necessary.
  • In the question papers, wherever necessary, the metric systems of weights and measures only will be used.
  • Marks scored by candidates in Computer Based Examination, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized by using the formula published by the Commission through Notice No: 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07-02-2019 and such normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
  • The dates of examinations indicated in the Notice are tentative. Any change in the schedule of examinations will be informed to the candidates only through the website of the Commission.
  • There shall be no provision for re-evaluation/ re-checking of the scores. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.

The Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-II, III & IV.

There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Tentative Answer Keys for the Computer Based Examination will be placed on the Commission‟s website after the Examination. Candidates may go through the Answer Keys and submit representations, if any, on payment of Rs 100/- per question within the time limit given by the Commission through on-line modality only.  SSC CHSL Tier II Exam Pattern:

  • Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in „Pen and Paper‟ Mode. The duration of the Descriptive Paper will be for one hour (20 minutes compensatory time will also be provided to the candidates eligible for scribes as per Para 8.1 and 8.2 above). The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and a Letter/ Application of approximately 150-200 words.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent.
  • The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will be awarded zero marks.
  • Candidates must write their correct Roll Number at the prescribed places on the cover page of the Answer Book. Candidates must also affix signature and Left-hand Thumb Impression in the relevant columns in the Answer Book. Answer Books not bearing Roll Number, Signature and Left-hand Thumb Impression shall be awarded zero marks.
  • Candidates are strictly advised not to write any personal identity e.g. name, roll number, mobile number, address, etc inside the Answer Book. The candidates who fail to adhere to these instructions will be awarded zero marks even if marks are awarded during the evaluation process.

SSC CHSL Tier-III (Skill Test/ Typing Test) Exam Pattern:

  • Skill Test/ Typing Test for the qualified candidates will be conducted on computers provided by the Commission or its authorized agency.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be conducted in the cities where Regional Offices of the Commission are located or as decided by the Commission.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature.
  • Errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be conducted as per Post.

Admission to the Examination:

All candidates who register themselves in response to this advertisement by the closing date and time and whose applications are found to be in order and are provisionally accepted by the Commission as per the terms and conditions of this Notice of Examination, will be assigned Roll numbers and issued Admission Certificates (AC) for appearing in the Computer Based Examination (Tier-I). Subsequently, qualified candidates will be issued Admission Certificates for the next stages of the Examinations.

In addition to the Admission Certificate, it is mandatory to carry at least two passport size recent colour photographs, Original valid Photo-ID proof having the Date of Birth as printed on the Admission Certificate, such as:

  1. Aadhaar Card/ Printout of E-Aadhaar,
  2. Voter‟s ID Card,
  3. Driving License,
  4. PAN Card,
  5. Passport,
  6. ID Card issued by University/ College/ School,
  7. Employer ID Card (Govt./ PSU),
  8. Ex-serviceman Discharge Book issued by Ministry of Defence.
  9. Any other photo bearing valid ID card issued by the Central/ State Government.
