The State Government has made the key decision about the easing of the age requirement because it has the power to appoint these positions directly. The minimum age to apply for Group C positions is not set in stone. The age of applicants varies depending on the positions. Minimum age to apply for LDC the general age range is 30 years.
Age Relaxation:
The general recruitment category at UDC is 32 years of age. Candidates can now apply for Group C positions if they are older than the age limit in the appointment regulations by 2 years. The graduates argued that the age requirement for applying for government positions should be lowered. As a result, the age restriction has been loosened by two years for Group C posts exclusively, per Chief Minister Rangasamy’s directive, allowing older graduates to apply for government jobs. Government departments are only permitted to make appointments or grant approvals through the March 2023–2024 fiscal year.
Additionally, it has been suggested that this age relaxation only apply once, and communication in this regard should be given at the time of appointment. In terms of Group C posts, the State has created 20,526 Government Servant posts. Group C jobs include positions like LDC, UDC, and Multi-tasking Staff. In the state of Puducherry, 32,000 new government positions have been created.
However, there are now only 22,000 people working. There are 10,000 open positions in government. The government has begun filling these positions. There is a list of open positions broken down by department. In this instance, the Puducherry government has mandated a two-year age relaxation for applicants only for Group C positions with the Puducherry government.
