Professors in Higher Education Institution Will Be Recruited Like This: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has revised the direct recruitment process for Assistant Professor in higher education institutions/colleges. As per the revised guideline, the National Eligibility Test (NET), State Eligibility Test (SET), and State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) qualification are a must.

The NET/SET/SLET qualification has become a mandatory and minimum qualification for the appointment of the above-mentioned post. UGC has amended the ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum qualification for appointment of teacher and other academic staff in Universities and colleges and other measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education) regulation, 2018’.
According to the report, this will come into effect from July 1, 2023. Up on this announcement, candidates have to clear the above-mentioned exams rather than completing Ph.D. to get appointed as Assistant professors in colleges and universities.
