Course Name is Wireman. Duration of the course is 25 months. Training time is 6 months.
Wireman Roles and Responsibilities:
Wireman duties and responsibilities include installing, maintaining and repairing wiring and related electrical devices in homes, businesses, factories and construction sites The job often begins with reading technical diagrams and blueprints. Wiremen also inspect existing wiring and electrical systems to identify and correct problems or replace worn-out or defective components. Wiremen use a wide range of tools, including testing devices, soldering irons, wire cutters and standard tools such as hammers and screwdrivers. They also use power tools to cut conduit pipes, drill holes and perform other tasks.
Job Description:
- Wiremen perform journey-level work in the installation, testing, repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities used in the generation, distribution and transmission of electrical power.
- Employees in this position are electrical trades workers who perform highly skilled work independently and provide instruction and direction to lower level workers.
- Wiremen install and maintain a variety of electrical systems using specialized tools and vehicles; provide on-the-job training to apprentices and helpers, and diagnose and correct defects in power generation and distribution systems.
- The work requires expert knowledge of electrical theory and principles, familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the electrical trades, ability to interpret and apply blueprints, specifications and codes, and knowledge of safety rules and procedures.
