Self Defense Classes for 50,000 Girl Students: Karnataka Govt new Initiation – The state Karnataka Government initiates the self defense programme for the girl students of schools and colleges of the state. 50000 girl students across the state will be benefit from this programme. The title of this self defense programme is stated as ‘Obavva Art of Self Defence Training’.

At the inauguration function of the same Chief Minister of the State Mr. Basavaraj Bommai addressed that, to use the Police Training Schools to train the girl students to self defense which was advised by the Home Department. Girl students of Backward Classes and Social Welfare department hostels to the number of 50, 000 will get this training.
The Chief Minister said that Onake Obavva, the name itself gives the strength to fight, and correct6ly suitable for this occasion. He also talks about the need for this defense programme for the girls in this society. CM addressed that it is the basic need of knowing the self defense especially for the girls.

“One who is self-confident would defend oneself most ably. Self-confidence is like a tonic for self-defense. The Social Welfare minister and officials of the department are giving that tonic to you,” CM said. He additionally said that, the Karnataka State Government scheduled to give 7,500 more NCC candidates yearly with an allocation of Rs 1200 per candidate.
