JEE Mains 2022: Candidates Get Two Attempts Instead of Four on this Session – Download Details Here. According to a source, candidates for the Joint Admission Examination (JEE) Main 2022 will only have two opportunities this year, rather than four, because the National Testing Agency (NTA) has chosen to hold the entrance exam only in April and May. After the ministry of education decided to expand the number of attempts to four from 2021 onwards, the agency held four sessions of the JEE Main test earlier this year.

Another issue, according to insiders, is that the window for entry has decreased due to the delays in most tests, including the class XII Board exams, if admissions are to be completed on time this year. Exams for CBSE class XII will begin on April 26 while the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations will begin in the last week of April.

Students take the JEE (Main), a multi-session computer-based test, to get admission to top engineering schools as well as to gain eligibility to take the JEE (Advanced), the entrance exam for Indian Institutes of Technology. The number of attempts given to a student was increased from one to two in 2019, and to four in 2021, and some of the results reveal that taking many shots at a high-pressure test benefits candidates greatly.

Top JEE Mains rank scorers qualify for JEE Advanced which is the entrance examination for IITs all across the country. In 2021, top 2,50,000 JEE Mains rank holders were allowed to appear for JEE Advanced. Through JEE Mains students get admission to engineering colleges like NIITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) among others.
