Is January 4th is Holiday for Schools & Colleges??? Know the Reason Behind District Wise Leave!!! Usually, the Government Declares local holidays to educational institutions like schools and colleges during any event or function related to a district. But, schools and colleges will function on another day to compensate for the days given as local holidays.
Accordingly, the 21st of January has been declared as a working day in the Nilgiris district to make up for the holiday on the 4th of January. Hethai Amman festival, which is the main event of Badaga people in the Nilgiri district, is going to be celebrated on 4th January this year.
A local holiday has been declared on 4th January for the Nilgiris district in view of this festival. To compensate for this holiday, the District Collector has ordered that all government offices and educational institutions will function as a working day on January 21.
