The central and State government along with salaries they issue Dearness Allowance (DA). Dearness allowance means a certain amount of money is added to their salary according to the percentage allotted by the government. This compensation is due to inflation in the economy.
The central government employees didn’t get DA from January 2020 to June 2021 due to covid pandemic. 7th pay commission plans to give 18 months pending DA to its employees and pensioners. At present this bill is in cabinet consideration. According to the source, Cabinet may allow the bill to pass and the allowance will be paid in three installments.
Dearness allowance of central government employees has been increased by 4% in September. With this hike, the DA will increase from 34% to 38%. Central government employees are eagerly waiting for this good news to happen.
