  • His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science.
  • He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics “for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect”,a pivotal step in the evolution of quantum theory.

Best known for

  • Einstein is well known for his theories about light, matter, gravity, space, and time.
  • His most well known equation is E=mc2. It means that energy and mass are different forms of the same thing.

Awards and Achievements

  • Einstein published more than 301 scientific papers and over 150 non-scientific works.
  • He received honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine and philosophy from many European and American universities.

Death: 18 April 1955

Pi Day

  • Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi).
  • Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three digits of π and the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.(mathematics)

  • In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day.
