- He was born on February 9, 1873.
Honours:
- He has been described as “the founding father of modern Tamil theatre”and Father of Tamil drama.
- He was a playwright, director, producer,Lawyer and actor.
- He worked as a lawyer and judge.
- He was the reason of the Tamil drama was a priority in the eyes of the people.
- He also introduced poetry, kirtan, etc. in some of his plays.
- At the age of 22 his first play debuted with the name ‘Leelavathi-Suluzana’.
- He has written 80 dramas.
Awards:
- He was awarded Sangeetha Drama Academy Award in 1959.
- In 1916, he was awarded a Drama Professor.
- In 1963 he was awarded the title Padmabhushan.
