Government Increases upper age limit for Police Constable Recruitment to 30 Years!!! Refer Here.According to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal government on Wednesday agreed to increase the maximum age for hiring police constables from 27 to 30 years old.
According to her, it was also decided to modify age and physical requirements for appointment on compassionate grounds under the exempt category for the relatives of police officers.
The chief minister also declared that civil defence workers, village police, home guards, and civic volunteers would be qualified for promotion, and that there would be a relaxation of the upper age limit to 35 years old as well as of the physical requirements for promotion to the position of constable.
The implementation of uniform allowance for various categories of police officers in the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police was also announced by the state.

The selection of candidates will be based on their ability to pass the preliminary written test and subsequent physical assessment.
There are 1666 open positions in total, 1410 of which are for constables, and 256 are for last constables.
