Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee).
GATE is a national level examination which test candidate understands in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering / Technology /Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Arts, Commerce and Science. GATE is NOT an admission ensuring examination. Qualifying in GATE examination does NOT guarantee admission / scholarship. Some educational institute select students based on GATE marks and some PSUs link ONGC, NTPC, HAL, IOCL, GAIL etc., hires employees based on GATE score.
GATE Age Limit
There is no minimum or upper age limit required to attend GATE examination.
GATE Eligibility Criteria 2023
Candidates should have completed BE or or ME or B.Tech or M.Tech or B.Sc or M.Sc or B.Com or BA or B.Arch or B. Pharm to attend GATE Examination. Students who are studying 3rd/ final year of any undergraduate degree are eligible for to attend GATE.
There are no minimum marks/ percentage defined to attend GATE examination. Candidates who are pursuing or have passed their graduation in Engineering or Technology or Architecture or Science or Commerce or Arts are eligible.
GATE Exam Pattern
GATE exam will be conducted for 29 subjects. Exam duration will be 3 hours (180 minutes). Totally 65 questions asked in the examination. 35 were multiple choice questions and 30 were Numerical questions. Total marks in 100. GATE Application Fee
- General candidates required to pay Rs. 1500 as application fee per paper.
- Female candidates/ SC / ST / PwD candidates required to pay Rs. 750 per paper as application fee.
