In this context, AICTE Member Secretary Rajiv Kumar has issued the following statement: The All India Council for Technical Education, or AICTE, oversees the operation of all types of engineering and management institutes across the country.
These colleges are expected to follow the AICTE’s schedule for conducting classes. The AICTE has issued the academic calendar for the coming year. As a result, new sessions for existing engineering and technical college students must start by Sept. 15, following the end of the semester exam holiday.
Integration training programmes for first-year students must commence by October 10th. Students must complete enrollment and begin first-year classes by Oct. 25 through counselling and administrative allocation at private universities, according to the statement.
“Physical lessons for first-year students will begin in the second week of February,” said R M Kishore, vice-chairman of RMK Engineering College. “Regular classes for second- and third-year students will begin following online exams.”
Academics have encouraged the government to switch back to paper exams. “When colleges enable physical courses, administering online tests is a bad idea.” “The government should resort to offline tests because online exams are not proctored,” stated E Balagurusamy, ex-VC of Anna University.
