Employment Market improved in April as job seekers returned to the workforce: CMIE Report.According to figures from the CMIE (Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy), India’s labour force saw a significant increase in April compared to the previous month, with 88 lakh people joining the workforce, bringing the total to 4.37 crore. Working-age persons who had been out of the labour force re-entered it last month, owing to a rise in manufacturing and service positions, according to the report.
“People who could have worked but chose not to were now flooding the labour markets.” This is the polar opposite of the situation where dissatisfied workers leave the workforce.”Some of these disillusioned folks, or quitters, came back into the labour markets in April,” CMIE said in a report released this week.
The newest figures reflect a four-month high in monthly labour force gains. “If we omit the lockdown-affected months, when movement in and out of the labour markets was unusually high, this is one of the highest monthly rises in the labour force.”
Along with the increase in the labour force, employment increased in April, following a three-month dip from January to March.”It’s worth noting that the 8.8 million gain in the labour force in April follows a 12 million decrease in the previous three months.” “Labor left the labour markets in January-March and returned in April,” according to the CMIE.

Agriculture jobs are declining, but manufacturing and service jobs are increasing.In contrast to March, when the agriculture sector drew the most jobs, employment in the industries and services sector increased in the previous month. Due to the end of the rabi harvesting season and an extended heat wave, the agriculture industry lost 52 lakh employment.In April, industry added 55 lakh jobs, while services added 67 lakh jobs.
