The decision will help some 1 lakh 22 thousand workers. The Maharashtra government has declared a festive bonus ahead of Diwali, which is excellent news for the more than one lakh employees who work for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST), government schools, and hospitals in Mumbai.
Teachers, healthcare professionals, Mumbai Municipal Corporation employees, and BEST personnel would receive these incentives, According to EknathShinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. For employees of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Teachers, and BEST, CM Shinde announced a bonus of Rs.22,500; for healthcare workers, he announced a bonus of one month’s salary.
Around 93 thousand Mumbai Municipal Corporation employees and over 29 thousand other people, including BEST personnel, teachers, and health professionals, will profit from the decision. In addition, Shinde commended the staff for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and urged them to continue working for Mumbai’s improvement.
The chief minister further stated that issues involving BMC staff and development projects will be resolved on a priority basis after releasing the Diwali bonus.
