  • Bihar Day (Bihar Diwas, Bihar Day) is a day celebrated on March 22 every year to celebrate the formation of the state of Bihar.
  • On the same day in 1912 the state was created by the British from the province of Bengal. This day has been declared a public holiday in Bihar.

  • World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is observed on March 21 each year.
  • It is an annual global campaign to raise awareness about Down Syndrome.
  • Purpose:
  • This day is commemorated as a global effort to raise awareness about hereditary disorders. Someone with Down syndrome has an extra chromosome.
  • The theme of this year’s World Down Syndrome Day is: “Adding Item”.

  1. Sportstar Aces 2022 Neeraj Chopra Wins Best Athlete of the Year:

 Neeraj Chopra won the coveted ‘Sports Star of the Year’ award at the 2022 Sportstar Aces Awards.

Mirabai Sanu, a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, won the ‘Athlete of the Year’ award.

The Aces Awards also celebrate the spirit of excellence in the sport, and are presented with the aim of motivating our athletes to continue to strive to break new records and reach new heights of pride.

  1. Coffee-table book ‘Road to 1000’ has been released at the 2022 Sportstar Aces Awards:
  • The book is compiled to commemorate the journey of Indian cricket.
  • Sportstar and The Hindu Group have unveiled a coffee-table book titled ‘Road to 1000’ at the 2022 Sportstar Aces Awards at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
  • The 520-page book is a special collection of 1000 films commemorating the journey of Indian cricket.
  • ‘Road to 1000’ has been released by former Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Syed Kirmani, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Chandrakanth Pandit and Nilesh Kulkarni.
  1. Dr. Dahmton has written a book by Erach Utwadia entitled “More Surgery Than More: Life Lessons Beyond  the OT”:
  • Padma Award winner Dr. Dehmton Erach Udwadia has written a new book, Life Lessons Beyond Surgery, which is a personal account of the people, events, guides, failures and absurdities behind surgery.
  • Tehmdon Erach Udwadia illustrates this book as a way to share the lessons he has learned through his student stay, research, surgical training and surgical teaching.
  • Dehmton Erach Udwadia is a gastroenterologist from Mumbai. He became the first surgeon in India to introduce laparoscopic surgery in 1972, and was the first to perform laparoscopic surgery in developing countries in the 1990s. He is widely known as the ‘Father of Laparoscopy in India’.
  • The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri for Medicine in 2006 and the Padma Bhushan for Medicine in 2017. She also received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2006 from Queen Elizabeth II.
  1. The Prime Minister opens the Biplob Bharat Gallery at the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata on Shaheed Diwas (Martyrs’ Day):
  • On the occasion of Shaheed Diwas, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi opens the Biplob Bharat Gallery through video conferencing at the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata.
  • Purpose:
  • The gallery shows the role of the revolutionaries in the freedom struggle and their armed opposition to British colonial rule.
  • The purpose of this new gallery is to provide a holistic view of the events leading up to 1947 and to highlight the important role played by the revolutionaries.
  1. Indian economist Jayati Ghosh has been appointed a member of the UN Advisory Council:
  • Jayati Ghosh (born 1955) is a professor of economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. He specializes in globalization, international finance, employment in developing countries, issues related to gender and development, and economics.
  • United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has announced the appointment of Indian development economist Jayati Ghosh as a member of the newly established UN Advisory Council.
  • Jayati Ghosh is also a professor at Amherst University in Massachusetts. He was previously Professor of Economics and Head of the Center for Economic Studies and Planning at the School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is also a member of the UN High Level Advisory Committee on Economic and Social Affairs.
  1. Serd Bertimugamotov elected President of Turkmenistan:
  • Serd Bertimuhamadov was sworn in as President of Turkmenistan. Berdimuhamedow was predeceased by his father and former president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who became president in 2006 and served until 2022.
  • Serd Bertimugamedov led the gas-rich country with 72.97 percent of the vote.

  • The BNP Paribas Open is the largest competition to be held in two weeks outside the four Grand Slams and
  • The WTA 1000 and ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournaments are the most attended in the world.

  • HDFC Bank has announced the launch of the “SmartHub Vyapar program” & ‘AutoFirst’ processor, the following two initiatives for the digital drive for small business loans.
  • The financial institution has absorbed 2.7 million retailers and buys 100 thousand retailers every month.

  1. ‘LAMITIYE-2022’ 9th India-Seychelles Joint Military Exercise Launched:
  • The 9th edition of the Joint Military Exercise between the Indian Army and the Seychelles Defense Forces (SDF) ‘LAMITIYE-2022’ was held from 22 March to 31, 2022 at the Seychelles Defense Academy (SDA) in Seychelles.
  • The Indian Army Corps is represented by the 2/3 Gorkha Rifles Group (Brigandi Battalion). Training LAMITIYE is a twenty year training event held in Seychelles since 2001.
  • Purpose: The purpose of this joint exercise is to develop and enhance bilateral military relations

  1. Operated 5th in the series of maritime patrol vessels “ICGS Saksham”:
  • Indian Defense Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar has commanded the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Saksham. Fifth in a series of 105-meter Marine Patrol Ships (OPVs) class, in Goa. Already launched in 2020. The first four of the five ICGS ICGS Sachet, ICGS Sujeet (2nd) ICGS Sardak (3rd); And ICGS Sajak (4th) will be the fifth ship in 2021.
  • The Inland Sea Patrol Ship Project was launched by the Prime Minister of India in 2016, under which the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is scheduled to launch five Marine Patrol Ships (OPVs).

  • Former captain of the Indian cricket team Gundappa Ranganatha Viswanath has written his autobiography titled “Wrist Guarantee: An Autobiography” co-authored with senior journalist R Kaushik.
  • Former Indian cricketers Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar unveiled a book on the first day of the India-Sri Lanka Test match in Bangalore, Karnataka.
  • The book describes the cricketing journey of Kundappa Viswanath, who played Test cricket for India between 1969 and 1986 and scored over 6000 runs in 91 matches.
