National News

NIA branches will be set up in all states across the country

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that branches of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will be set up in all the states of the country.
  • With a view to creating a strong framework for counter-terrorism, the central government plans to establish NIA branches in all states of the country by 2024.

75 Border Road projects has been dedicated to nation

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated to the nation 75 different projects of the Border Roads Organisation(BRO) from the country’s last village Shyok in Leh.
  • The projects consists of 45 bridges, 27 roads, and two helipads covering states having international borders including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Rajasthan.

“One nation One Police Uniform”

  • Prime Minister Modi presented the concept of ‘One Nation, One Police Uniform’ of the Government while Addressing the 2nd day conference of State Home Ministers held in Surajkhand, Haryana through video conference.
  • Also the government has started a multi-technology drive in the police. The mission is to introduce technology-based reforms and processes to strengthen police operations in India.

World’s Busiest Airports List was released

  • Aviation industry research firm OAG has released a list of the world’s busiest airports, comparing domestic and international air service conditions between October 2019 and October 2022.
  • In that list, Atlanta Airport is at 1st place. Dubai Airport is 2nd place and Tokyo Haneda Airport is 3rd place.
  • And India’s Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport has been ranked 10th place based on October 2022.

1st ASEAN-India Startup Festival 2022

  • Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, inaugurated the 1st ASEAN-India Start-up Festival (AISF) on 27th October 2022 in Bogor, Indonesia.
  • As a developing nation, India is currently dedicated to harnessing path-breaking innovations for comprehensive socio-economic growth, and the successful hosting of the 1st ASEAN-India Startup Festival will show opportunities to further strengthen ASEAN-India cooperation to accelerate the startup economy.

Head Office for Chennai Metro Rail has been opened

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the state-of-the-art Chennai Metro Rail headquarters.
  • The head office building has a unique design with state-of-the-art facilities, a curved design to improve communication, ease of movement, and to reduce the impact of earthquakes and wind on a grand scale of 12 floors.

Amit Shah laid foundation stone for Rs 5,618 crore railway project in Haryana

  • 126 km from Palwal to Sonipat in Haryana. A semi-circular double track is to be constructed for the distance.
  • The project is being undertaken at a cost of Rs.5,618 crore. Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for this project in Paritabad.

SC, ST Reservation raised in Karnataka

  • SC has 15 percent and ST has 3 percent reservation in the state of Karnataka.
  • According to the population size SC reservation increased from 15 per cent to 17 per cent and ST reservation was increased from 3 percent to 7 percent and this Ordinance was passed with the assent of Governor Davarchand Khelat.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port created a record for the highest import

  • In Tamil Nadu V.O. Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin, handled 120 number of imported windmill blades, the highest volume in a single consignment on 27.10.22 surpassing the previous highest import of 60 windmill blades in a single consignment.
  • The entire consignment was handled diligently with two Harbor Mobile cranes, with utmost concern for the safety of the cargo and cargo handling workers.

Chairman of the C-20 Group in  G-20 Organization was Appointed

  • Mata Amrithanandamayi Devi has been appointed by the Central Government as the official Chairperson of the Civil 20 (C-20) Group in the G-20 organization.
  • C-20 is for civil-society organizations (CSO) to communicate non-governmental and non-commercial information to G20 leaders.

Lee Jae Yong chosen as a Samsung CEO

  • Lee Jae Yong has been selected as the president of Samsung, a famous multinational corporation headquartered in South Korea.
  • He is the 3rd generation member of the Lee Byung Bung family founder of Samsung. Lee Jae-yong, 54, has been working as a Samsung’s vice president since 2012.

America tests hypersonic missile successfully

  • USA successfully re-tests hypersonic missile which travels 5 times faster than sound.
  • This is the second test carried out under the program which focuses on developing sea and land based hypersonic capabilities. And its first test was conducted in October 2021.

A NASA satellite captured a smiley face on the Sun’s surface

  • NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory caught the Sun “smiling.” Seen in ultraviolet light, these dark patches on the Sun are known as coronal holes and are regions where solar wind fast gushes out into space.
  • These coronal holes emit complex streams of solar wind toward Earth that can have physical effects on our earth causing intense solar storms.

‘Blue Flag’ environmental certification for coastal areas

  • Two new Indian beaches in Lakshadweep — Minikai Dundi Beach and Kathmud Beach have received international environmental certification ‘Blue Flag’.
  • With this Blue Flag certification, the number of Blue Flag certified beaches in the country has increased to 12.
