National News

Announcing the release of the “Rs 75” commemorative coin at the inauguration of the New Parliament Building

  • The Finance Ministry has announced that the “75 Rupees” coin will be released to commemorate 75 years of Independence Day when Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament building on May 28. According to the notification, “35 gram coin 44 mm diameter” and the coin will be “circular in shape”.
  • On the right side of the coin is the word “India” in English, on the obverse is the lion capital of the Ashoka pillar with Satyamev Jayate below it, on the left is ‘Bharat’ in Devanagari script, and on the Backside is a pictorial composition of the New Parliament Building according to the notification.

India and ADB have signed a $141.12 million loan agreement.

  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India on May 25th signed a $141.12 million loan agreement to develop “High-Quality infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh”.
  • The finance ministry said in its notification that the funds will be used to improve roads, electricity distribution network and water supply systems in three industrial establishments in the state.

Shri Giriraj Singh has launched a Campaign called “SAMARTH” to promote Digital Transactions.

  • Union Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shri Giriraj Singh launched his campaign on May 25 to promote digital transactions in 50,000 gram panchayats under Amrita Mahotsav in Lucknow.
  • The campaign aims to promote “digital transaction holds” among senior citizens and women.

A project to promote “Unani Medicine” jointly by the Ministry of AYUSH and Minority Affairs

  • AYUSH and Minority Affairs Ministries have jointly taken a significant decision to promote the Unani system of medicine in India and bring it to more people.
  • The Ministry of Minority Affairs, under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme, has allocated Rs. 45.34 crores has been approved for grant. It has been announced that through this scheme, Unani medical facilities will be improved in Chennai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Silchar and Bengaluru and grants will be provided to establish various facilities of Unani medicine in these places.

An MoU was signed between NHIDCL and IIT Guwahati.

  • The cooperative agreement aims to facilitate research and development (R&D) in critical areas of IIT Guwahati to improve “planning and design” for road construction.
  • The MoU was signed between NHIDCL and IIT Guwahati to address the challenges posed by the highway construction industry under the “extreme climatic and geographical conditions” prevailing on India’s roads, promote technological innovation and develop innovative technologies.

“Bhoto Jatra” festival begins in Nepal.

  • The “Bhoto Jatra” festival is celebrated as a public holiday in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal. It is part of the month-long chariot procession of “Rato Machindranath Jatra”.
  • Here the chariot made entirely of wood without the use of iron nails starts the procession at Pulchok and ends at Jwalakhel.

An Agreement has been signed to station Russia’s nuclear weapons in Belarus.

  • Russia and Belarus signed an agreement on May 25 to allow Russian tactical nuclear weapons to be stationed in Belarus.
  • The deal was brokered between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko to deal with Ukraine and other countries opposed to Russia. Accordingly, Belarus “declared the deployment of small and short-range nuclear weapons”.

Iran Army Inducts “New Generation Missile”.

  • On May 25, Iran launched a new generation Khyber missile with a range of 2,000 km and a 1,500 kg warhead.
  • Iran says the missile, called the Khyber, is an upgraded version of the “Khorramshahr ballistic missile.” Security experts have said that this is a vulnerability for Israel.

India’s Gravita has set up a commercial rubber recycling plant in East Africa.

  • Leading recycling company Gravita India Limited has launched “Commercial Production and Recycling of Waste Rubber” at East African subsidiary Gravita Tanzania Limited located in Tanzania.
  • The new recycling mill aims to reduce the company’s production costs, reduce carbon footprint and provide low-cost facilities.

Kerala become fully e-governance state.

  • Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on May 25 that the entire state of Kerala has become an e-Governance government. This marks a major step forward in Kerala’s journey to achieve 1% digital literacy.
  • It aims to bridge the digital divide and create diverse platforms for the people by strengthening e-governance using advanced technology in the state.

Plans to host the First Mining Startup Summit in Mumbai

  • Union Minister for Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi is scheduled to inaugurate the “First Mine Startup Summit” jointly organized by IIT Mumbai and the Ministry of Mines on May 29.
  • The main objective of the conference is to develop skills, integrate safety and autonomy and create innovation in the mining and metallurgical sector.

  • “R. Dinesh” who served as the Executive Vice President of TVS Supply Chain Solutions has been elected as the President of “Confederation of Indian Industry” (CII) for the year 2023-2024.
  • He took over from “Sanjeev Bajaj” who was the Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finserv Limited.

Discovery of Ultrasound waves that induce immediate Torpor and Hibernation

  • Scientists at the University of Washington in the US have announced that they have developed a “New technology that uses ultrasound waves to target a mammal’s head and induce instant “Discovery of Ultrasound waves that induce immediate “Hibernation.”.
  • These ultrasound waves are reported to induce immediate Torpor and Discovery of Ultrasound waves that induce immediate Torpor and Hibernation. It has also been reported to suppress mammalian metabolism, lower body temperature and induce convulsions and drowsiness.

  • “National Heat Awareness Day” is observed on May 26th, every year to create awareness about the dangers of excessive heat and to take and promote safety measures.
  • This year’s theme is “Commit to protecting the vulnerable”.
