National Nutrition Month

  • The National Nutrition Month is being celebrated across the country to mark the fight against malnutrition. Women and Child Development Ministry to spread broad awareness on the issues related to malnutrition like stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight in children.
  • The Nutrition Month will also focus on adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to eliminate the deficiencies prevailing in the Health sector.

HSL commissions State’s largest rooftop solar power plant

  • Hindustan Shipyard Limited has commenced production from the State’s largest rooftop solar power plant. The plant is built and operated by Clean Max.


First licence for private power distribution

  • The State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has permitted the India Power Corporation (Tuticorin) Private Limited (IPCTPL), a Kolkata-based company, to provide electricity to units in the multi-product special economic zone (SEZ) at Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district.

  • Tropical Storm Gordon lashed South Florida with heavy rains and high winds and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane when it hits the central U.S. Gulf Coast.

Typhoon Jebi

  • Japan issues evacuation advisories for almost 300,000 people and cancelled hundreds of flights as typhoon Jebi approaches


Amazon unveils Hindi platform

  • Amazon India, an e-commerce website and mobile application launched its Hindi platform.

SpyLite mini UAV systems

  • Cyient Solutions & Systems Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between IT firm Cyient and BlueBird Aero Systems of Israel, has bagged an order from the Indian Army to supply mini UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) systems for high altitude aerial surveillance.


International Women Entrepreneurs Summit

  • The International Women Entrepreneurs Summit 2018 is being held in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Vice President of Nepal Nanda Bahadur Pun inaugurated the summit. Theme:- “Equality begins with Economic Empowerment”.

Conference on E-Mobility in Indian Railways

  • A Conference on “E-Mobility in Indian Railways” organized by Ministry of Railways through Institution of Railways Electrical Engineers (IREE) in association with NITI Aayog concluded.

Government approves proposal to increase wages of artisans by over 36 %

  • The Government has approved a proposal to increase wages of artisans by over 36 per cent, from five rupees 50 paisa per hank to seven rupees 50 paisa.


KAZIND Joint Army Exercise

  • Indo-Kazakhstan Joint Army Exercise ‘KAZIND’ will be conducted between the Indian and Kazakhstan Army from 10 to 23 Sep 2018 in Otar region, Kazakhstan.


  • India along with 23 other nations will participate in a major Indian ocean-wide tsunami mock drill which will involve evacuation of thousands of people from coastal areas in over half a dozen coastal states. It is being organised by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.


Coffee Connect and Coffee KrishiTharanga

  • The mobile app Coffee Connect has been developed to ease the work of field functionaries and to improve the work efficiency. The Coffee KrishiTharanga services are aimed at providing customized information and services to increase productivity, profitability, and environmental sustainability.


ISSF World Championship

  • Om Prakash Mitharwal picked up his maiden gold medal in the 50 metres pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Championships.

Indian shooters secure quota places for 2020 Olympics

  • Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela have become the first set of Indian shooters to secure quota places for the 2020 Olympics.
