National Nutrition Month
- The National Nutrition Month is being celebrated across the country to mark the fight against malnutrition. Women and Child Development Ministry to spread broad awareness on the issues related to malnutrition like stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight in children.
- The Nutrition Month will also focus on adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to eliminate the deficiencies prevailing in the Health sector.

First licence for private power distribution
- The State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has permitted the India Power Corporation (Tuticorin) Private Limited (IPCTPL), a Kolkata-based company, to provide electricity to units in the multi-product special economic zone (SEZ) at Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district.

- Cyient Solutions & Systems Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between IT firm Cyient and BlueBird Aero Systems of Israel, has bagged an order from the Indian Army to supply mini UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) systems for high altitude aerial surveillance.

- India along with 23 other nations will participate in a major Indian ocean-wide tsunami mock drill which will involve evacuation of thousands of people from coastal areas in over half a dozen coastal states. It is being organised by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.
