Explanation:

1) A) November 16

  • On December 12, 1996, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 51/95, which invited UN member states to observe the International Day for Tolerance on November 16 each year. The resolution came about after and a follow-up to the United Nations Year for Tolerance, which took place in 1995, after being proclaimed in December 1993.The International Day for Tolerance is an annual observance day declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance.

2) B) Bangladesh

  • Bangladesh has the highest business bribery risk among South Asian courtiers, according to the Trace Bribery Matrix which releases annual ranking for 200 countries. The Matrix evaluates countries under four parameters which are business interaction with the government, anti-bribery deterrence, transparency and civil society oversight.Bangladesh has been placed at 178 position among 200 countries in terms of business bribery risk. It has been on the high risk country list of Trace Bribery Matrix since 2014 when the first matrix was released.

3) B) 5th Edition

  • The 5th edition of the Dhaka International Folk Festival was inaugurated by the Information Minister of Bangladesh Dr Hasan Mahmud at a grand ceremony at Bangladesh Army Stadium. Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen was present as chief guest in the opening ceremony.More than 200 artistes from 6 countries are be performing in the largest folk festival of Asia.

  • Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has extended his greetings to the media fraternity on the occasion of National Press Day.Press freedom is the essence of a vibrant democracy and this government is ensuring full freedom to the press.

5) A) New Delhi

  • The theme of the 15-day Mahotsav being held at Dilli Haat in INA, is celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Culture, Craft, Cuisine and Commerce.The tribal textiles manufactured by master tribal craftsmen from Jammu & Kashmir in the North to Tamil Nadu in the South and from Gujarat in the West to Nagaland/Sikkim in the East will be the main attractions.

6) B) Jammu and Kashmir

  • National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) was launched in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with its formal inauguration by Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, Sarita Chauhan.The event was attended by around 300 teachers, Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and Chief Education Officers, DIET Principals and Educational Administrators.

7) C) Shibpur

  • Rashtrapati Bhavan will host a conference of the Directors of IITs, NITs and IIEST, Shibpur on November 19, 2019. This Conference is part of regular interactions of the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, with such institutions in his capacity as visitor to 152 Central Universities and institutions of higher learning.

8) D) New Delhi

  • Inaugurating the International Conference of Global Mothers-2019, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam –Family System and Role of Mother”, in New Delhi , the Vice President expressed happiness over the theme of the Conference saying that the conference is a celebration of motherhood.“The entire world is indebted to mothers and this is the reason that in all religions and in all parts of the world mothers hold a special position of relevance and reverence”, he added.

9) C) New Delhi

  • The 8thInternational Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS-VIII) will be organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in New Delhi from 18thto 21st November 2019. Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra DG ICAR & Secretary DARE informed that the conference will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Chief Guest will be Bill Gates.

10) C) Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances

  • A two-day Regional Conference on the theme: “Replication of Good Governance Practices in Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh” began in JammuThe Conference is organised by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on November was inaugurated by Minister of State for PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh along with Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, G. C. Murmu.

11) C) 7.4

  • A massive earthquake of 7.4 magnitude hit the northwest of the Malaku islands in Indonesia. The earthquake was measured at 62km deep in the sea. The powerful quake has also triggered a tsunami warning in the region. Indonesia is situated on the ‘Ring of Fire an area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean which is vulnerable to frequent earthquake and volcanic eruptions.

12) C) Odisha

  • An inter-ministerial central team has said, cyclone ‘Bulbul’ caused extensive damage to agriculture and other installations in coastal districts of Odisha.The seven-member team, led by Saheli Ghosh Roy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, conducted a two-day on-the-spot damage assessment in four of the six affected districts in the state. Ms Ghosh Roy said, paddy cultivation has been completely destroyed and infrastructure like transmission lines also damaged in coastal areas

13) A) Information and Broadcasting

  • Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that All India Radio is a most reliable medium of communication.

14) B) Bangladesh

  • In cricket, Team India declared at 493 for 6 in their first innings against Bangladesh today in the first Test match at Indore.India has a lead of 343 runs. An electric double ton by Mayank Agrawal put India in commanding position at the end of the second day.

15) B) Kiren Rijiju

  • Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju today said Fit India movement must become a citizen’s movement. Giving the keynote address in Conference of Ministers and Secretaries of the States and UTs for Youth Affairs and Sports in New Delhi this morning, Mr Rijiju said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed all Ministries that Fit India must be a part of their action. He added that Fit India is a way of life and it should be encouraged in such a manner that each state competes with the others on which is the fittest state in India.
