April 24 –  National Panchayati Raj Diwas

 

  • National Panchayati Raj Day (National Local Self-Government day) is the national day of India celebrated by Ministry of Panchayati Raj on 24 April annually.
  • Then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh inaugurated the first National Panchayati Raj Day in 2010

STATE

MADHYA PRADESH

  • The Government of India, the Government of MadhyaPradesh and the World Bank today signed a $210 million loan agreement for the Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project.
  • The Project will cover 10,510 km stretch of rural roads in Madhya Pradesh that fall under the Chief Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (CMGSY) program.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH

  • India’s first organic kiwi wine goes to the market in bottles sourced from Sichuan.
  • The ‘Naara-Aaba’ is from one of the few organic kiwi wineries located outside Switzerland, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district.

TELANGANA

  • GI tag for Adilabad Dokra an ancient bell metal craft and Warangal Dhurries a popular traditional cotton rug from Telangana.
  • One of the newest innovations by the weavers here is an adaptation of tie-dyed ikat techniques and hand-painted or block-printed kalamkari designs for the dhurries to save time and energy.

NATIONAL

India’s Best Panchayat

  • Digambarpur gram panchayat in West Bengal is declared as the best panchayat in the country by Central Government.

Framework for National Policy on E-commerce

  • First meeting of the think tank on the Framework for National Policy on E-commerce in New Delhi on April 24th, 2018 chaired by Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation.
  • Department of Commerce established the think tank on the Framework for National Policy on E-commerce.

Secure India Conclave underway in New Delhi

  • The two-day Secure India Conclave got underway in New Delhi on 24.04.2018.
  • The conclave is being organised by Global Counter Terrorism council keeping in view, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of New India: Secure India 2018.

Mobile App (m-Awas)

  • Hardeep Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (I/C) launched a Mobile App (m-Awas) for allotment of Government accommodations in General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) in Delhi under the control of the Directorate of Estates, here on April 24.

Shanghai Cooperation Organisation [SCO]

  • External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj address to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Foreign Ministers in Beijing.
  • The SCO, a permanent intergovernmental international organisation created in 2001, comprises eight member states including India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russian, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

  • India’s export to Poland was $2.3 billion & polish export to India stood at $800
  • The bilateral trade between India and Poland has crossed $ 3 billion in 2017 and the European country is exploring various sectors to improve the trade balance.

Zero Shadow Day in Chennai

  • A sub-solar point is when the sun is directly overhead at a particular latitude. When the sun is at the zenith (the highest point in the sky) its rays will be hitting a particular point exactly perpendicular to the surface.
  • This will make your shadow be exactly under you, making it look like there are no shadows. Take a small jump and you can see your shadow.
  • It occurs twice a year.

New Structure in the cell

  • A new twisted and knotted structure called i-motif has been for the first time studied inside a living cell.
  • Researchers say that it looks like a four-stranded knot of DNA.

World’s smallest land fern discovered in Western Ghats:-

  • Indian researchers have discovered the world’s smallest land fern hiding in the Ahwa forests of the Western Ghats in Gujarat’s Dang district.
  • The size of the new Malvi’s adder’s-tongue fern Ophioglossum malviae, named after their resemblance to a snake’s tongue.
