Bill Has Been Introduced To Declare ‘Diwali’ A Federal Holiday in the US: One of the prominent US lawmakers Grace Meng introduced a bill on Friday (26.05.2023) to declare Diwali as a federal holiday in the US. If the bill has been passed then, Diwali would be celebrated as a federal holiday in the United States.
Diwali or Deepavali (Festival of Lights) is one of the most important festivals in India which has been celebrated in October/November month of every year. Meng also states that she was very happy to introduce the Diwali Day Act bill and thanked all government colleagues and advocates for giving their support for this; this is announced by her on a micro blogging platform.
If the bill is passed then this would be the 12th federal holiday in the US. Recently, Pennsylvania State also passed a bill to celebrate Diwali as a federal holiday of the state. This will be cheerful news for the state people and people can celebrate the festival with their friends and families.
