Bengal Govt to Introduce Biometric Attendance System for Teachers’ Recruitment – Announcement!! The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has announced the introduction of a biometric attendance system at examination centers for the recruitment of primary teachers. This decision has been taken following controversies regarding the appointment of teachers at various levels in the state.

This Biometric Attendance Registration is being implemented especially in teacher exams to avoid the third person writing the exam instead of the candidates. Meanwhile, the West Bengal state government has already decided to video record the optical mark recognition (OMR), marks of papers, interviews, and counselling process from the beginning of the written examination.

Earlier in the state, former state education minister Partha Chatterjee and several officials of the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) were found involved in corruption in teacher recruitment. While the case was pending in court, Gautham Paul was appointed as WBBPE’s new president. Now, the authorities have said that they are going to handle the above measures to ensure transparency in teacher recruitment.
