Banks Closed for 5 Days Straight: Due to Festivals – Bank remains closed for 5 days starting in this week from today (10.11.2021). Due to Chhath Puja in Bihar and Jharkhand, and Wangala festival in Shillong all Private and Public Sector banks will be closed in these regions. Because of this festival season please refer nearest bank and schedule your banking as per holidays.

RBI announced this holiday for particular states who were celebrating these festivals. So bank customers are recommended to confirm the holidays by visiting the nearest banks. Bank holidays is usually not uniform in nature, except for a few days such as Diwali, Chrisman, New Year etc., As per RBI Bank Holiday list up to 17 days in the month of December public and private sector bank remains closed.

Banks usually closed in 2nd and 4th Holiday and all Sundays. RBI classified all the holidays into 3 categories namely state-wise celebrations, religious holidays and festival celebrations. The central bank will notice their holidays as ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’.
