Anna University M.Tech Student Admission 2021 Extension of Deadline?!!
The Chennai High Court is on the lookout for extension of the deadline for admission of two M.Tech courses at Anna University. The Chennai High Court has directed the Central and State Governments, the All India Council for Technical Education and Anna University to respond to the appeal.
Earlier, M.Tech Bio Technology and M.Tech Computational Biology courses were conducted at Anna University, Chennai with the financial assistance of the Central Government.
The central government had insisted that 49.5 per cent reservation should be followed during Anna University student admissions. Due to this, Anna University announced last January that it will cancel these 2 M.Tech courses in the 2020-2021 academic years.
The Union government’s department of biotechnology-supported courses of M Tech Biotechnology and M Tech Computational Bio technology-supported courses of M Tech Biotechnology and M Tech Biotechnology and M Tech Computational Biology programme offer Rs 12,000 and Rs 12,500 respectively as stipend to a total of 45 students.
The All India Council of Technical Education’s submission has come after Tamil Nadu government mooted creation of nine more supernumerary seats to offset the difference between Tamil Nadu’s 69% reservation policy, and the Centre’s 49.5% ceiling.
Totally claiming that only 12 out of the total 45 places for these 2 courses at Anna University have been admitted.
All India Board of Technical Education to extend the deadline for admission to the remaining 33 vacancies. Judge Jayachandran, who heard the case, directed Anna University, the Central and State Governments and the All India Council for Technical Education to respond to the case by June 1.
