Union Home Minister Amit Shah dedicates National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to the Nation

National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal was dedicated to the Nation by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. He also inaugurated Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) during the event.

National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal was launched on August 30,2019 which helps the citizens of the Nation to report cyber crimes through online. The scheme to setup I4C was approved in October 2018 at an estimated cost of Rs. 415.86 crore to deal with all types of Cyber crimes.

Global investor meet ASCEND 2020 held in Kochi, Kerala

A two day organised Global Investors Meet ASCEND 2020 was held in Kochi, Kerala at Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre, Grand Hyatt, from January 9-10. The meet was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala Shri Pinarayi Vijayan and was organised by states Department of Industries. Totally Rs 1 lakh crore worth investment proposals were received.

International Energy Agency (IEA) today released the first in-depth review of India’s energy policies.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) in partnership with NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog has released the first in-depth review of India’s energy policies 2020. The IEA conducts review on energy policies of its member countries. This is the 1st time the review is done for India after it became an IEA-association country in March 2017.

Wings India 2020 to Be Held In Hyderabad From March 12-15

Wings India 2020, an international exhibition and conference on civil aviation sector, will be held at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad, Telangana from March 12-15, 2020. The theme of the event is “Flying for all”. The biennial event will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in presence of Minister for Civil Aviation and Minister of State for Civil Aviation.

The maiden edition of “WINGS INDIA AWARDS” for Excellence in the Civil Aviation Sector will be announced during the event. The award will be conferred upon the Aviation-related Companies/Institutions/Organizations.

Second largest Muslim Congregation in the world Bishwa ljtema begins in Bangladesh

The first phase of the world’s second largest Muslim congregation after Haj began on the outskirts of Dhaka today. Thousands of devotees from Bangladesh and abroad are thronging the bank of river Turag at Tongi near Dhaka to participate in the congregation called Bishwa Ijtema. Noted scholars give religious sermon to the devotees on this occasion.

The Ijtema began with the ‘aam bayan’ and will end on January 12 with the final prayers ‘Akheri Munajat’. Bishwa Ijtema draws in Muslim devotees from about 150 countries.

RBI releases “National Strategy for Financial Inclusion” report

The Reserve Bank of India has released a report “National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI): 2019-2024“. The National Strategy for Financial Inclusion for the period 2019-2024 has been formulated by RBI under the aegis of Financial Inclusion Advisory Committee (FIAC).The report has been ratified by the Financial Stability Development Council (FSDC).

The aim of this scheme is to provide affordable access to financial services such as bank accounts, remittances, credit, insurance and pension

Govt raises authorised capital of Indian Overseas Bank to Rs 25,000 crore

The central government of india in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)has announced an increase in the authorized capital of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) to Rs 25,000 crores from the previous authorized capital of Rs. 15,000 crores, thus making an increase by Rs. 10,000 crores.

Union Government unveils State Energy Efficiency Index 2019

The Union Government has released the “State Energy Efficiency Index 2019”. The index was released during the ‘Review, Planning and Monitoring (RPM)’ meeting held in New Delhi. The index is developed by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) along with Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE). The SEE Index 2019 traces the expansion and achievements of Energy Efficiency (EE) drives running in 36 states and union territories.

Key results of SEE Index 2019:

The State Energy Efficiency Index 2019 was topped by Haryana, Karnataka and Kerala while Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand and Rajasthan performed worst in their respective groups. The states of Haryana, Karnataka and Kerala were in “Achiever” group and there was not a single state in the “Front Runner” group.

India’s oil demand growth to overtake China by mid-2020s: Energy Agency

According to the report, ‘India 2020 Energy Policy Review’ which covers the key energy sectors of oil, natural gas and electricity and identify the main energy security issues, released by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in collaboration with NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, India will overtake China by mid-2020 in terms of crude oil demand growth.

Indian Scientist Dr Sakya Singha Sen and team wins ‘Merck Young Scientist Awards 2019’ in Karnataka

Merck Young Scientist Awards 2019 in chemical science, instituted by Merck was announced in Bengaluru in Karnataka.Indian Scientist Dr Sakya Singha Sen and his team won the Merck Young Scientist Award 2019.

The award is given to the given to researchers with less than ten years of experience with expertise in solving some of the toughest problems in chemical sciences.

Lt Col Yuvraj Malik has been appointed the Director of the National Book Trust(NBT). He has taken over from Sahitya Akademi – awardee writer Rita Chowdhury, Joined the NBT on deputation from the Indian Army.

The officer has served with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, United Nation Missions in Africa and several operational areas.

India deploys aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya in Arabian Sea amid China-Pakistan naval drill

India has deployed its aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya in the Arabian Sea at a time China and Pakistan are holding a nine-day mega naval exercise in the region, a move seen as New Delhi sending a clear signal to its two neighbours.

The exercise ‘Sea Guardians’ is taking place in the midst of heightened tension between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. Key platforms of both China and Pakistan, including submarines, destroyers and frigates are part of the exercise.

Isreal unveils revolutionary laser-based air defence system

According to the Isreali Ministry of Defense, Isreal has successfully developed a laser-based air defence system.The System is meant to intercept aerial threats ranging from as mortar fire, drones, medium-range Grad rockets, anti-tank missiles as well as long – range missiles.

The system is set to be tested in six months time at an undisclosed location in northern isreal.

Rani Rampal Nominated for World Games Athlete of Year 2019 Award

India women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal has been nominated for the World Games Athlete of the Year 2019 award. Rani was instrumental in India qualifying for the first time in back-to-back Olympic Games.

The 25 athletes nominated for this award from 25 sports have been recommended by their international federations and in Rani’s case, the FIH has recommended her name for the award for her outstanding performance and her ability to lead by example.

Sultan Qaboos of Oman, Arab world’s longest-serving ruler, dies aged 79

The longest serving ruler of Oman Sultan Qaboos bin Said passed away. He was a charismatic and visionary leader who transformed Oman into a modern and prosperous nation. He was ruling Oman since 1970.

The Sultan is the prime decision-maker in Oman and also holds the portfolio of Prime Minister, supreme commander of the armed forces, minister of foreign affairs, minister of finance and minister of defence.
