Will the Old Pension Scheme be Restored in India??? Check What the Central Govt Said!!! Central Government Pensioners and State Government Pensioners across the country are being given pensions under the New Pension Scheme since 2004. However, the new pension scheme does not provide as many benefits as expected by government employees.
So, requests are being made to the government to implement the Old Pension Scheme, which provides 50 percent of the salary as a pension. Meanwhile, the states of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are providing Old Pension Scheme to their employees. Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad has said that the government has no plans to bring back the Old Pension Scheme.
In a statement, he said in the parliament, the state governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand have informed PFRDA about giving OPS (paying accumulated corpus of subscribers under NPS) to employees. But it is reported that no such plan has come from the Punjab state government. And he clears that, there is no plan to restore Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for the central.
