Union Public Service Commission released the Notification Regarding Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2022 on 21.09.2022 at the Official Site. The Online Applications can be filled up to 11.10.2022. The Union Public Service Commission will hold a Screening Test for selection for Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination, 2022 through Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2022 which will be held on 19.02.2023.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Vacancy 2023:

Category-I: (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines).

  • Geologist, Group A – 216
  • Geophysicist, Group A – 21

Category – II: (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.)

UPSC Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 Age Limit:

A candidate Must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained at the age of 32 years on 1st January 2023 i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2n d January 1991 and not later than 1s t January 2002.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be further relaxable as follows:

  • Up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.
  • Up to a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
  • Up to a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute, and orthopedically handicapped persons.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 Eligibility Criteria:

For Geologist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: Applicants shall pass Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration.

For Geophysicist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B:

Candidates shall pass M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics).

For Chemist Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India and Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical) under C.G.W.B:

Applicants shall pass M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament.

For Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) Group ‘A’ in C.G.W.B:

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 Application Fee:

Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only), along with the submission of the Online Application Form.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 Selection Process:

The Examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:—

  • Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type Papers) for the selection of candidates for Stage II:
  • Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Conventional Type Papers); and
  • Personality Test/Interview.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Notification 2023 Important Dates:

  • The Online Applications can be filled up to 11th October 2022 till 18.00 Hours
  • The online Applications can be withdrawn from 19.10.2022 to 25.10.2022 till 18.00 Hours.

Candidates are required to apply Online using the link https://www.upsconline.nic.in.  In case the applicant has not yet registered in the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, the link of which is already available on the Commission’s website, he/she should register in this platform and thereafter proceed for filling up the online application for the examination.
