Union Govt Launched India’s First Car Safety Program “Bharat NCAP”: In India, every year 1.5 lives are lost in road accidents and many people have lost their day-to-day lives due to accidents, to reduce accidents and to enhance road safety, the Indian government has launched much awaited official Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) on today.

This was launched by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri. Nitin Gadkari at New Delhi. The main aim of this program is to elevate the vehicle safety standards for up to 3.5-tonne vehicles of the M1 category in India. Minister states that this is a landmark step towards empowering consumers for being able to make better choices for buying safer cars.
This program will assist the consumers in India and will also promote healthy competition among OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to manufacture safer vehicles. The report also states that this program will commence on October 1, 2023, based on Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197.
