Uniform and Text Book Fees Should Be Paid By Govt.

Uniform and Text Book Fees Should Be Paid By Govt. Said HC: In Tamil Nadu, the High Court of Madras on Today (20.05.2023) ordered that under the Right to Education Act, the uniform and textbook fees for the students who have joined private schools under the 25% reservation should be paid by the government.

This case was filed by a Parent Mr. Maharaja on behalf of his son Swethan who has joined a private school under the 25% reservation quota. The school has ordered to pay a sum of 11,977 rupees for books and uniform fees. This case was inquired by Justice Dhandapani who made the above-mentioned verdict.

HC also ordered the state education department secretary to issue a notice regarding this to all respective schools and officials within 2 weeks and ordered to issue books and uniforms to that particular student as soon as possible by mentioning that it is the government’s duty to provide that fees and schools can collect it from the government.
