UGC Age Limit for Chairman

Candidates whose age is below 60 years are preferred to be nominated for the post of Chairman in UGC.

UGC Chairman Qualification

• Candidate should have experience in academics, governance and/ or professional management.
• Applicant should have proven record of dynamic, idea centric leadership in institution building, good innovations and global outlook in higher education.
• Candidate should be working with equivalent post and commensurate with the responsibility and prestige of the position.
• Chairman shall be chosen from among persons who are not officers of the Central Government or of any State Government.

UGC Selection Process for Chairman

Nominated person would get shortlisted based on agreed parameters and may called for interaction with the Committee. UGC also consider persons based on their eminence outside the list of such nominations. Selected candidates will get appointed for the period of 5 years or till attaining the age of 65 years.
