Govt plans to have at least one PMBJP Kendra in each block of country by end of 2020

Union Government plans to have at least one Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya JanAushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendra in each block of the country by end ofcurrent year.

  • This was stated by Union Minister of State in the Prime minister’s Office Dr.Jitendra Singh while participating in ‘Jan Aushadhi Diwas’ celebration inKathua. He said the government launched the PMBJP to promote affordable andquality generic medicines among the people.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the ‘NIGHA’ mobile application where citizens can report electoral malpractices in the run-up to the local body elections in the state.

  • The app launched by the Department of Panchayati Raj empowers citizens to report illegal distribution of money and liquor, and has provisions to upload photos and videos as well.

India ranks 46th out of 100 countries, Sweden tops : Inclusive Internet Index 2020

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released the 4th iteration of the  Inclusive Internet Index 2020 for 100 countries where India is  overall ranked  in 46th place & Sweden in 1st place.

  • The 1st country ranked is Sweden, followed by New Zealand(2nd) & the US(3rd). Australia & Denmark both ranked 4th, followed by South Korea (6th), Canada(7th), the United Kingdom(8th), France(9th) , Spain(10th) & Pakistan(76th).

Jack Ma overtook Mukesh Ambani to become Asias richest man

Jack Ma topped the list with a $44.5 billion fortune, which is $2.6 billion more than Ambani. Earlier, in mid-2018, Ma topped the list.

  • Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported that Jack Ma became Asia’s richest man. Mukesh Ambani, who stood as Asia’s richest man, has moved to the second position after oil prices collapsed along with global stocks.
  • The novel coronavirus erased $5.8 billion from Ambani’s net worth on and pushed him to No.2 on the list of Asia’s richest people.
