New Education Policy 2021:
Last year, the Indian government had approved the “Education Policy 2020” which formulated by a committee headed by former ISRO chief Kasturi Rangan. In order to make the new education policy accessible to all, the Central Government had translated and published it in various languages. But there were various oppositions for this policy throughout the country, especially in Tamil Nadu. The center is advised to implement the education policy by 2021. Following this, the central government decided to consult with the state governments on the implementation of the new education policy and called on all state education secretaries.
Letter to Minster:
This policy was accepted by the party AIDMK and it has been opposing by the DMK which is the ruling party of Tamilnadu. In this situation, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poiyamozhi wrote a letter to the Union Minister of Education regarding this consultation meeting.
In the letter, he had asked that the meeting should be held at the ministerial level. He said he was ready to present his views and recommendations on the new education policy during the ministerial meeting.
Reason to Boycott:
The central government did not respond to the School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poiyamozhi’s letter. In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has boycotted the consultation meeting held by the Central Ministry of Education with the state education secretaries regarding the new education policy.
