Tamil Nadu State Govt set fees for private ambulances carrying Covid-19 patients!!!. The government of Tamil Nadu has set fees for private ambulances carrying COVID19 positive patients. According to a government order released on Friday by health secretary J radhakrishnan, a simple patient transport ambulance will charge Rs 1,500 for the first 10 kilometers and Rs 25 for each additional kilometer.
A standard life support ambulance with oxygen should not cost more than Rs 2,000 for the first 10 kilometers and Rs 50 for each additional kilometer. Ambulances equipped with ventilators, defibrillators, and multipara displays can charge Rs 4,000 for the first 10 kilometers and Rs 100 for each additional kilometer.
The order states that if users protest of extra costs, the government can take steps such as revoking their driver’s license, cancelling their ambulance’s registration number, and seizing the car immediately. Ambulance services are playing an vital role in saving the lives of people from corona infection across the country. Currently the government has announced new charges for these private ambulance services.
India’s coronavirus numbers over the last two weeks suggest the second wave may have reached its peak. Current trends indicate that active cases could peak well under the 40-lakh mark. As of Wednesday, there were 37.1 lakh active cases in the country. Of the toll reported on Thursday, Maharashtra contributed 882 deaths, while 344 came from Karnataka.
