A big controversy raised across the state TamilNadu over the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection-IBPS’s announcement of, Tamil language is not compulsory to be recruited in the Banking sector in the state TamilNadu. It is notable that, among 843 candidates who are now appointed for various bank jobs in TamilNadu, 400 candidates are belongs to the other state. About half of the employees from the total candidates are the people from the other state who do not know the Tamil language.

On reporting this issue to the press, General Secretary of IBPS said that, initially 20 to 30 per cent of banks in Tamil Nadu were employed by outsiders, but now the number has increased to 50 per cent. More than 50 percent of the staff selection list for the year 2022-23 is made up of other state peoples who do not know Tamil. As non-Tamil expatriates work in banks in rural areas, it has become the norm for customers to be affected by their access to banking services and to be handcuffed to Tamil employees. expatriates joining the service without knowing Tamil will be given 3 months to learn the state language and those who do not learn Tamil will be given an additional 3 months without being disqualified.
